CONGRATULATIONS - State Championship - Top 10 - 325

Congratulations, Lego Lions!

Team 10801, with 325 points, placed in the top 10 (of 52 teams) at the State FLL Championship in Honolulu on December 1, 2012. The team also represented St. Andrew's Priory well in the other categories of Research Project, Core Values, and Robot Design.

Since October, the team of 4th and 6th graders has learned to build, program, and run an NXT robot; design and strategize; research and present on the topic (challenges faced by the elderly), and how to function as a team, including communication, decision-making, and being able to rely on each other.

Way to go, team. Great job!

The team (and coach) wave "thank you."

The scores for Robot Performance put the Priory team at 9th place overall in that category -
impressive, for their first State Championship!

District Tournament, November 10, 2012: Robot Performance - 275

On Saturday, November 10, the Saint Andrew's Priory team won first place in the Robot Performance category at the District Tournament at Sacred Hearts Academy. The team, named "Lego Lions," includes three sixth graders and three fourth graders.

Of the ten teams that participated in the District Tournament, three - including the Lego Lions - were invited to advance to the State Championship on December 1.

This means they performed well in each of the categories: robot performance; research project & presentation; core values & teamwork; and robot design.

Congratulations, team!

    - Wed, Oct. 17, 5:30-7:30 pm, Moanalua Middle.

Introduction: FLL is...

FIRST LEGO League is a volunteer-led program open to students in grades 4-8.  Over 20,000 students in 60 countries participate each year.
Teams of up to 10 students will research and present a project on the 2012 Challenge Topic of “Senior Solutions” and will design, build, and program LEGO robots.
The Hawaii season is from September-December, with a district tournament on a Saturday in November.  If the Priory team makes it to the state championship, that will be Saturday, December 1, 2012, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.  A generous donor is supporting the creation of a team from St. Andrew’s Priory. Priory Students have until 4  PM, September 7, to deliver their application forms to the technology room.
